Background Info
The origins of APEX Movement can be traced back to 2006 when Ryan Ford founded Colorado Parkour. In September 2006, Ryan and Matt Marshall established the Colorado Parkour Academy in Boulder. Soon after, Ryan and Matt also began to teach in Denver and expanded their offerings to include strength and conditioning, specialty workshops, sports cross training seminars, and US military training camps. As our philosophy grew with our program, March 2009 brought the opening of APEX Movement in Denver, Colorado.
The founders and head trainers of APEX Movement are Matt Marshall and Ryan Ford. Both have an extensive background in fitness and athletics including weightlifting, gymnastics, martial arts, and football. Matt and Ryan also have a combined 16 years experience teaching fitness, parkour, gymnastics, and other sports to adults and kids.
In addition, Matt and Ryan are two of a small number of American practitioners to train in Europe with the founders of parkour. In May 2008, they traveled to Evry, France, where parkour was created, as guest instructors of the Yamakasi and Parkour Generations at their international seminar. On the trip, Ryan and Matt journeyed across France and England for 3 weeks honing their skills and teaching abilities with some of the leading practitioners in the world. .
